The club closed tennis tournament finals day was known as "Caroline's Day" this year in memory of Caroline Mitchenor who did so much for tennis at Lee on Solent and throughout the County.
Her husband Chris Mitchenor sponsored the day providing and presenting the winners and runners up keepsake trophies including the "Caroline Cup", a new mixed doubles trophy.
At the presentation at the club tennis AGM he congratulated all the 110 members who took part in the competition and thanked them and the Lee club members for all their support in raising funds for breast cancer research. Chris was able to report that the fund raising he and Chris Jnr. have organised for breast cancer charity has to date raised over £8,000. Many will remember Caroline for her involvement in tennis both as an organiser and a player and she is sadly missed.
Virgin Active Hampshire Club will also be holding a ladies / girls tennis competition in memory of Caroline and more details will be available soon.
