The Hampshire & IOW Ladies competed in division 4b in Barnstaple over the weekend of 27-29 November.
The Hampshire Team were: Esther Adeshina, Lisa Hanley, Freya Davies, Selina Briggs, Jo Thomlinson, Summer Colling, Lorelei Sanderson, Debbie Hale, Sue Espley
The other counties in the division were: Devon, Avon, Staffordshire
Day 1 vs Devon.
Round 1 brought us wins for Debbie, Lisa and Freya in 2 sets, Lorelei played a great match winning in 3 long sets. Esther lost in 3 sets, whilst Selina lost in 2 sets against a very strong opponent. We went into the doubles 4-2 up.
Both Debbie and Esther and Selina and Jo won their doubles which gave us an end of day win of 6-3.
Day 2 vs Avon
We had a fantastic singles round with Lisa winning in 2 sets, whilst Lorelei, Freya, Esther and Selina all had a very long battle winning in 3 sets.
Going into doubles we were 5-1 up and had taken the win for the day. Freya and Lisa managed to add to this total by winning their doubles taking our end of day result to 6-3.
Day 3 vs Staffordshire
Today's tie was a straight shootout to decide the winners of the group.
After the singles sadly we were 4-2 down. Lisa played a faultless match to win 6-1 6-1. Selina also won in 2 sets.
We needed to win all 3 doubles to claim the win, Lorelei and Jo battled hard losing in two very close sets whilst Lisa and Freya won theirs, however it didn't matter by then as we'd lost the tie 5-3.
Staffordshire won the group, whilst Devon got relegated.
With such a young team we had a successful weekend, with some great performances, there's lots to build on for the future.
