Three of Hampshire's top 14&U players are in Sunderland this week.
The trio, all ranked within the top ten of their respective age groups are competing in the Winter National Tournament being held at the Sunderland Tennis Centre. The event features the countries top boys and girls, aged 14 & under, all battling it out for some big ranking points towards their AEGON British Tennis Rankings.
In the boys event, Miles McDowall from Winchester, is seeded fifth, and will be looking to make it as far as possible in the draw, taking on Warwickshire's Mason Recci in the first round.
Elsewhere, Selina Briggs, from Portsmouth, has a tough draw, playing number one seed Jasmine Asghar from Surrey, whilst Southampton's 12 & U National Champion Gabbi Taylor will be taking on Patricia Valimaa from Oxfordshire.
Both Miles and Gabbi are part of the AEGON Future Stars programme, they train, receive funding and additional support via the David Lloyd Southampton Academy.
Helen Watt, Sports Manager at David Lloyd Southampton said " This is an excellent start to the new season for both Miles and Gabbi, who have been working hard with our fitness and tennis coaches in preparation for the tough season ahead".
