The LTA and Tennis Foundation this month agreed to release funds to support the growth of tennis in Alresford by funding the Don Perrin coaching programme.
Don Perrin Tennis are based at Perins School in Alresford and will receive support over the next 12 months to start new coaching sessions aimed at introducing adults and juniors to the game.
The Don Perrin programme is led by Donna Holliday with Don Perrin as Head Coach and the team have recently obtained Tennis Clubmark status from the LTA in recognition of their good work.
Zoë Bambridge, Tennis Development Manager for Hampshire said:
“The team at Don Perrin Tennis are doing a fantastic job. With the investment the team are delivering numerous fun and affordable additions to the programme including Touch Tennis and Cardio Tennis. I am very much looking forward to working with the team in the coming months and seeing them continually grow tennis and competition.”
The Club have received funding after they were awarded AEGON Beacon Accreditation earlier this year in recognition of their ability to offer free and affordable tennis to the local community. The accreditation is only awarded to community focussed sites such as Perins Tennis, who are committed to working with the LTA to increase participation in tennis.
Don Perrin Tennis are holding an open morning (10-12) at Perins School on September 3rd 2011 people can come along and try 'Touch Tennis', meet the coaching team, and take part in games, competitions, beat the coach.
