Rally for Bally Charity Event a Success

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Redditch H.D.A. Tennis Club hosted a family fun 'Rally for Bally' charity tennis tournament on Saturday 23rd August.

Rally for Bally at HDA

The event was played on mini red tennis courts using low compression balls enabling players aged from 7 years to 70+ years of age to compete against each other in a fun singles and doubles competition.    Over 40 adults and juniors competed in this event and it was a great way for players of all ages to compete together.

‘Rally for Bally’ is a national event to commemorate the life of the former British number 1, who died of liver cancer last May, aged 30.  The club raised £240 which will be split between the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis (which helps disadvantaged children) and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The winner of the singles event was Alex Maggs and runner-up was Caleb Ravenscroft.   Alex Maggs and Owen Perry won the doubles event, Matthew Cutler and Thomas Walsh were runners-up.

The tennis club offers a variety of opportunities for all ages. If you would like more information or would like to play tennis at the club please contact head coach Tony Ravenscroft on 07969649092 or email tony@tprtennis.co.uk.    You can also visit our website at www.redditchhdatennisclub.co.uk.
