A successful weekend at the County Cup in Wrexham for the U18 Herefordshire & Worcestershire Girls winning their group against Cumbria and South of Scotland.
TEAM:
Joanna Kondratowicz, Monika Kondratowicz (Sunday), Nicola Clarke, Kirsten Campbell-Ferguson (Saturday) Kate Horsburgh, Lucy Simper (Saturday), Eleanor Fleming and Ruth Horsburgh (Sunday).
The girls had some great wins against both teams. Joanna Kondratowicz fighting back against Cumbria’s Katie Bell after dropping the first set 6-2. Joanna went on to win the next two sets 6-1,6-2. Kate Horsburgh secured two singles wins for the team beating Habiba Hassan from Cumbria 6-4, 6-0 and Alexandra Kendal from South of Scotland 6-1, 6-2. Ellie Fleming also won both of her singles matches beating Cumbria’s Jocelyn Bell 6-1, 6-3 and South of Scotland’s Nicola Berthelsen 6-0, 6-0.
In the doubles event the girls played very well winning 5 out of the 6 matches.
Congratulations to the 8 players on their performances over the weekend and on winning promotion and a big thank you for their behaviour on and off court.
