Bishop’s Stortford Tennis Club was awarded Clubmark accreditation by the LTA this week.
The Club comprising 6 grass courts, 5 astro courts, 3 newly refurbished clay courts and 2 mini tennis courts is located in Cricketfield Lane and currently has 459 members. There are currently 24 accredited clubs in Hertfordshire. Key to the Club’s success has been restructuring the junior programme and Jeff Veitch, Junior Manager reported "with the help and guidance of the Herts LTA and the support from our Head Coach, Matt Hollands, we now have a strategy and a vision for our tennis club that will see us providing opportunities for junior tennis members of all ages and levels to compete in social match plays, competitive tournaments and begin representing our club in external team tournaments at the highest levels. We have a unique tennis club and our ambitions in the junior section are high!’
Club secretary Monica Sutherland who has been instrumental in driving this Clubmark process on behalf of the club, said: ‘This has been a team effort by the Club’s Officers and Coaching team. Our vision is to provide the ultimate tennis experience for both existing and new members of all ages and ability, and we have also plans for future expansion by increasing the number of our courts’.
