Best wishes to all our members for a Happy Healthy 2015 filled with lots of tennis on our lovely new courts.

Big New in the New Year’s Honours – Charles Fargher, a member of the club for many years, received the MBE for all the charity work he is involved in.. Congratulations Charles and also best wishes to Norman Rivers, well known at the club for the annual visit of the Children of Chernobyl to play tennis and have lunch. Norman received  the BEM. Everyone who helps with the coaching and lunch are delighted for Norman and his wife, Joan, can bask in the reflected glory.

(I’m sending a phot of Norman at the club this year. I don’t have one of Charles)

Unfortunately the Club U27 singles had to be postponed due to a low entry – it seems several eligible players were playing in events in the UK, working during their  holiday from University or on holiday. A new date will be announced shortly – probably around Easter.

Daphne Snidal, Team Manager for the Island Games tennis team and chief fund raiser is looking for volunteers to do a Bag Pack at Shoprite in Port Erin on Saturday 10 January from 10am to approximately 4pm. If you can spare an hour Daphne will be delighted to hear from you. Contact her – 450967.

All coaching programmes are now back in full swing and the first Match Play event for Mini Tennis players will be held at the end of the month Red and Orange ball matches on Saturday 31 January and Green ball on Sunday1 February. Entry details will be available shortly.

A reminder to all members that the lounge, with use of kitchen, is available to hire for meetings, birthday parties, lectures etc at very reasonable cost. Also a 1 hour tennis session can be booked through Ian in conjunction with the parties. Contact the Social Secretary, Kirsten Hall by e-mail kirsten.altc@gmail.com
