The Albany Junior Silver Award is given out each year to a junior member who we feel has done the most for the club, both on and off court. The trophy was donated to the club by Bryan and Pat Sharp to celebrate their 25th years of Club Membership. This year the trophy was awarded Charlotte Clarke (10) who is already competing in UK events, and is one of our promising juniors. Charlotte is always on hand to run errands around the club, and has helped Club Coach Ian Watson run the Summer Camps. Only last week our coach was ill and someone was required to help feeding balls to the beginner U8’s. A quick phone call to Charlotte, and she was on Court and eager to help. We encourage all our juniors to do this, as being a Club Member is about more than just playing.
The W K Dale Trophy is a similar award for adult members, following similar criteria. Ken Dale was our Treasurer in 1966 when we started raising funds to buy land and develop a Private Club. He quickly realised how much the members were going above and beyond; Clearing Land, Laying hard-core and Fund Raising, whilst still entering tournaments and playing league matches. The winner of W K Dale Trophy this year was Jackie Russell.
