The first Junior open tournament of the year starts this Saturday, with the Red Ball Mixed event starting at 1pm. All players should try to be there by 12:45pm if possible. Orange ball players are also playing Saturday, plus some of the older age groups. Please check with the referee Ian Watson if you are not sure of your start time. Play continues through to the Finals on Wednesday. The 12 noon red ball coaching session will take place as usual.
Race Night was again a great success and the club wishes to thank sponsors and “gamblers” for their support. Thank you to John Morrison of Morrison Photos Ltd for running the races, Jan Gaskill for organising the raffle, Kirsten Hall for co-ordinating suppers from The Terrace Chippy and David Bufton and Jackie Chinn for running the TOTE table. Final amount to be confirmed by the Treasurer but it should be a good start to the fund for future development at the club. The committee are mindful of maintenance costs, replacement of equipment and adding to the facilities. Any members wishing to run or support an event should contact any committee member. We are open to ideas. Also remember that the lounge is available to hire for meetings, parties etc.
Jack Christian (15) was playing at Liverpool Tennis Centre at the start of half-term and won both his matches against players with the same rating (7.2). He took a while to beat his first opponent but eventually won 1/4 4/1 (10-3) and the other match he was playing better and won 4/0 4/2. If any other Juniors were away during half-term please let me have your results.
