The Annual Equiom Junior Open tournament was concluded last Saturday with the 8 and under matches plus older age group semi-finals and finals. At conclusion of play the prizes were presented by Stephen Christian on behalf of the sponsors.
Under 8 singles r/r - Gr.A 1st Nabeel Sheik, 2nd Ale Ramirez, 3rd Ross Grimley. Gr B 1st Sophie Christian, 2nd Henry Leigh, 3rd Muneeb Sheik. S/f Sophie bt Ale 10-6, Henry bt Nabeel 10-2. Final Henry bt Sophie 10-6. 3rd/4th place Ale bt Nabeel 10-9.
Under 12 singles Jayden Go bt Charlotte Clarke 4/2 4/1, consolation final Caitlin Henery bt Aalish Kelly 5/4(6) 4/0. Under 14 singles semi-finals Roch Mirski bt Jack Christian 6/0 6/1, Jayden Go bt Charlotte Clarke 6/2 6/2; Final Roch bt Jayden 6/1 6/2 . Under 14 doubles r/r Jayden Go/Charlotte Clarke bt Orry Farnworth/Greg Kelly 4/0 4/1, Roch Mirski/Sam Skelcher-Maxwell bt Orry//Greg 4/1 4/0. Best Performance award went to Ben Bosworth.
Summer camps will be held during the school holiday as follows:
Red Ball (6 - 8 ysr) : Mondays -31 July, 14 and 28 August - 9.30- 11am £5 per session. Orange (9-10yrs) and Green Ball (10yrs): Wednesdays 2, 16 and 30 August 12-2pm - £8 per session. Yellow Ball beginners (11-14yrs) Monday 7 and 21 August 12 - 4pm 10-11.30am) £6 per session) Yellow ball competition players (11-14yrs) Tuesdays 1,15 and 29 August 12 - 4pm £15 per session). On Tuesday The Children of Chernobyl made their annual visit to the club for tennis coaching and lunch and it was a great success blessed with lovely weather. Thanks to Ian and his helpers for the on court activities and Jan Gaskill and her team for providing an excellent lunch
Reminder to all members that the lounge will be out of bounds from Monday for 2 or 3 days whilst we have new carpeting laid plus on the stairs.
Another reminder to ALL members that it benefits you and the club if you become an LTA British Tennis Member. It's free, you can enrol on the LTA website and it will give you access to the Wimbledon ballot and tickets for other tournaments and the Davis Cup.
