OPEN DAY AT ALBANY

The club held a successful Open day as part of the LTA initiative "Great British Tennis Weekend" last Saturday with non-members being made welcome. Both adults and children were given coaching and the opportunity to play. The midday Red ball coaching session had 30 children on the four mini tennis courts indoors. Club Coach, Ian Watson was assisted by several members, including three juniors Jay Skelcher-Maxwell, A J Go and Jayden Go and the whole event was put together by Social Secretary, Kirsten Hall, Chairman Stuart Colligon, Welfare Officer Clare Skelcher, helped by Rob Orr. All attendees were given a membership information pack and they will be able to attend three times as a guest before joining. They were also advised on other club activities including club social play sessions and the children's Summer Camps which start next week. The organisers had been very busy with a BBQ, tennis ball colouring competition etc. Thanks to everyone who helped and took part. I hope everyone enjoyed it.

The fine weather is persuading more members to leave the TV and go to club nights.

Tuesday was a good turn out with 19 players using all four courts.

The other club sessions are proving popular - Wednesdays 10 - 12.30, Friday Ladies 10am - 12noon and Sundays 10.30am - 12 noon.

Finally we have our new carpet in the lounge and on the stairs. My word what a difference and with the decorating done by a member, Nerijus Gricevicius.., the club lounge is looking good. It is available for hire by members/non members for children's parties with tennis, adult family events or organisations functions, lectures etc. Contact our social Secretary, Kirsten Hall, e-mail social@albanyltc.co.uk.

Don't forget the children's Summer Camps start next week so contact Ianwatsonpts@manx.net if you wish to book a place.
