I am sure that all members who know Margaret Drake and or knew her husband Gordon or their children Gareth, Ian and Anna will be shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of Gordon last week. The funeral is this Friday 13 at Kirk Braddan Church at 1pm and I hope as many members as possible will attend to give Margaret and their children some support at this sad time. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Rebecca House Children’s Ward, Hospice Isle of Man, The Strang, IM4 4RP

Congratulations to our women’s A & B teams for topping the tables in both divisions of the IOMLTA women’s leagues. The A team have taken the title with one match still to play and non-playing captain, Jackie Russell used a total of 8 members including 2 juniors (Aalish Kelly and Charlotte Clarke). The B team non-playing captain used 7 players. This is a good performance when so many members are not available or don’t wish to play competitive tennis. Times have changed. When I played league tennis we were all upset if not selected. Meanwhile The men’s Div 3 was won by Albany C, captained by Robby Orr, using 7 players including juniors and with a match still to play. Results for the other divisions still to be confirmed.

The Summer Mixed Doubles league are due to start and I hope more members will make themselves available. If you want to play mixed please make sure your name is on Kirsten Hall’s list as non-availabilities are already proving a headache. Please contact her by e-mail kirstenolsen123@gmail.com or phone/txt 391961 – she’d love to hear from you.

The committee met last week to discuss possible new projects – short and long term for the club. These will be explored during the coming months and we hope you will support some if not all of the ideas. The club has come a long way since buying one acre of farm land in the 60s but there is still room for improvement. Some ideas may qualify for grants others will need fund-raising but most if not all will benefit club members. More about this later.

Meanwhile the club has a quantity of used tennis balls to sell, which are ideal for dogs or young children. A bag of 20 costs £5 and contact 861497 if you want some.
