The first Junior Open tournament of the season started on Saturday and provided some interesting results, particularly in the younger age groups. The red ball players are very keen to compete and there were several close matches. Played in two groups – in Group B the winner was Jack Sharples (42pts) with r/up Oscar Clarke (34) third place Mason Austerberry (32) and fourth place Emma Perera (31). Group A had the more experienced players – some having played in UK events – and this showed. The winner was Magnus Benson (35pts), r/up sister Millicent (28), third place Oliver Neagle (26) and fourth place Abigail Cowell (25).

Boys singles 12 & under r/r winner: Orry Farnworth (three wins), r/up Ben Mitchell (a visitor from Scotland with two wins).
Girls 12 & under Group A – winner: Annelise Mellor (two wins) r/up Lucy Clarke (one win); Group B winner: Ava Austerberry (two wins), r/up Hadassah Smith (one win). Semi-finals: Annelise def. Haddasah 4/2; Ava def. Lucy 4/0; final Ava def. Annelise 4/0 4/0.

Opening fixtures for Albany are: Men’s fixtures – 2nd April: Castletown C vs. Albany C; 3rd April - Albany B vs. Ramsey A; Women’s fixtures: 1st April – Douglas A vs. Albany A; 10th April - Albany B vs. Ramsey A.
