Want help choosing a coach?

Choose a tennis coach who is qualified

It is important when choosing a tennis coach to ensure they have received the necessary training. The LTA coaching structure is dedicated to educating coaches from assisting at Level 1 all the way through to Level 5, where coaches are running tennis programmes or working with performance players.

Find out more about the LTA Qualification Structure.

Choose a tennis coach who is accredited

It is important to know that a tennis coach is up to date in their training. All LTA licensed coaches are required to achieve a minimum of 15 hours training each year as well as being certified in first aid and having an up to date DBS (formerly CRB) check.

There are two levels of coach accreditation; registration and licensing. Registration is the basic level of accreditation issued to those who are safe to practice. Licensing is the top tier of accreditation issued to those who are qualified, safe to practice and take part in regular training through continuous professional development (CPD).

Choose a tennis coach who is right for you

Whether a player is looking to become the next Andy Murray or Heather Watson or just trying to change one shot to their game, it is important that the tennis coach is right for personal needs.

Working together with a tennis coach is a two-way process and it is important to ensure that the coach understands the needs of a player and has the time and expertise to help them achieve their goals.
