Part Time Coach - Bradshaw Tennis Club

An opportunity has arisen for a part time, self-employed assistant tennis coach. The experienced coach must be self-motivated, have good communication skills and be able to manage their own diary. The successful candidate should also have experience of working with children, from mini tennis to performance level. Some experience of coaching adults would be preferable, but not essential.

Venue Overview

Bradshaw TC is a long established member run club located in, off Bolton Road, Bradshaw, Bolton BL2 3EL. It has approximately 40 adult members & 100 junior members.

Bradshaw Tennis Club offers great value membership for both Adults and Juniors. We have a well equipped clubhouse, three astroturf courts with floodlights, set in an excellent location next to Bradshaw Cricket and Bowling club. Adults have access to weekly ‘social tennis sessions’ all year round, and summer league match play. 

The club enters junior and adult teams for the Summer & Winter BSF leagues and the juniors have represented the club in the Aegon regional & national league.

Juniors club night takes place on a Friday from 5pm. Currently there are three different groups, based on age and ability.

Core Hours. Court Use:-

Mon.    6:30-9:00pm – Men’s social (in summer Men’s BSF matches)

Tue.     6:30 – 9:00pm – Adult mixed social (in summer Mixed BSF matches)

Wed.    6:30 – 9:00pm - Book a court / arrange a four

Thurs.   6:30 – 9:00pm – Adult mixed social

Fri. 5:00 – 7:00pm – Junior Club Night

Sat. 9:30am – 12:00pm Junior BSF matches (summer only)

Sat. 12:00 – 2:00pm – Junior Squad

Sat 2.30 - 5pm Adult mixed social tennis

Job Specification

In exchange for free membership of the club, including free use of the facilities & floodlighting, you may offer coaching of club members outside ‘core hours’ of court use. You will be requested to supervise & organise appropriate activities on junior club night 5:00 - 7:00pm every Friday and will be willing to play for the club team if requested.

You will be able to arrange your own coaching sessions in school term time on:

Monday-Friday from 4-6pm.

Saturday mornings (winter only) 8.30am to 12.00pm.

During School half term, winter & summer holidays additional hours of coaching can be arranged, subject to club committee approval.

Approximately 16 hours of coaching available per week.

Important attributes:

  • Hold an LTA License or equivalent
  • Have at least LTA DCA level / Club Coach qualifications
  • Enjoy working with children. (LTA mini tennis)
  • Be of a good playing standard.
  • Have  a current CRB
  • Have Insurance
  • Be an enthusiastic and motivated Team player
  • Be well organised with strong inter personal skills
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be prepared to work with both Junior Secretary, Chairman & Licensed Head Coach

Note:- For retention of LTA Licence the club committee will support financially the annual licence fee & attendance on CPD courses for collection of credits.(subject to approval)
