Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club wheelchair player Dave Phillipson continued to perform on his comeback from injury while competing in Sunderland last week.
He put in some solid performances to reach the final of the North East Wheelchair Tennis Tournament where he met British rival Gordon Reid. During his time injured Phillipson's world ranking has slipped to 52 but he is beginning to show the form that could lift him back to his previsou best of 24 this time last year.
Reid, ranked 39 in the world, won a tight match 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 which should lift him back above British number one Marc McCarroll but there were positives for Phillipson to take from his weeek in the north east.
