Loughborough's Ahmed El Menshawy went out of the AEGON British Junior National Championships in the quarter-finals at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton.

The 18-year-old, had been in commanding form, recording straight-sets victories in both rounds one and two. However, he was unable to continue his title campaign in the 18-and-under singles, losing 6-3 7-5 to David O'Leary. The No.1 seed, an AEGON FutureStars squad member, said that he had not been on form and made continuous mistakes, whereas his opponent was using all opportunities to his advantage.

El Menshawy said: "I'm disappointed with my performance. I was sloppy and I was consistently making the same mistakes. "I lost my serve four or five times and that is not good at all. El Menshawy added: "Well done to Dave, he played well and used the blustery conditions to his advantage by getting the ball high with the wind behind it, making it hard for me to take on effectively."

El Menshawy had launched his campaign by defeating Hampshire's Nicholas Sayer 6-0, 6-4. He followed up by beating Yorkshire's Gavin Davison 7-5, 6-3.
