Competition Mini Tennis Leaderboard

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Welcome to the Leicestershire 'Mini Tennis Tour' Leaderboard.

This is where young players can find out who is on top of the red, orange and green 'Mini Tennis Tour' and strive to reach the No. 1 position and get into the end of season tour finals.

Young players enjoy tracking their progress, just as the top players do on the ATP/WTA tours and so we wish all players luck in trying to be the best they can be.

How it works...

All players competing in the Mini Tennis Tour for red (8U), orange (9U) or green (10U) will be awarded points towards an online 'Leaderboard'. The Leaderboard will be published on the county website every 2 weeks during the season.

ALL events within our counties summer schedule will count towards the Leaderboard.

At all levels of mini tennis events, players will get 10 points for every match they play and receive an additional 40 points for every win.

Results from the player's top six tournaments will go towards their final total. At the end of the tour there will be a final for the top 8 boys and the top 8 girls in the area.Players can enter as many Mini Tennis Tour events across their county or neighbouring counties if they wish. Players can appear on any county Leaderboard.

What's it all about...

The Leaderboard is a fantastic way of engaging young players within exciting competition. It encourages players to enjoy playing against others locally in fun competition. Players can monitor their progress on the internet and also see how fellow competitors are doing. This gives players a real sense of achievement and also something to work towards.

The Leaderboard helps young players learn how to play matches and experience winning and losing. It is important to observe a young player’s win to loss ratio. As an example, if a player is winning all their matches then they will need to look at more appropriate competition that would be more challenging and help them develop their game. This may involve playing at events outside the county to give them the opportunity to see different standards and different players which will help their long term development as a player.

The final top 8 boys and top 8 girls from each age category will participate in the Masters Finals at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre in Loughborough on the following dates:

Mini Red - Saturday 4 July, 9am - 11am

Mini Orange - Saturday 11 July, 9am - 12noon

Mini Green - Saturday 18 July, 9am - 1pm
