Rothley tennis player Connor Glennon has received a boost towards achieving his sporting dreams. The 16-year-old has been awarded a grant by the Rotary Club of the Soar Valley to help with travel, training and equipment costs.
Glennon, a member of the Loughborough Academy and Rothley tennis club, wants to become a professional and has already represented Great Britain in both European and world events. He recently took part in the Austrian European Tour Event, winning his age group.
Currently No.3 in the British rankings for his age and in the top 12 in Europe, Glennon was selected to represent England in the Four Nations championships in Scotland this month.
Roger Williams, president of the Rotary Club of the Soar Valley, presented him with a cheque for £250. He said: "The Rotary Club of the Soar Valley is delighted to make this award. "It will help Connor further his development as a top-class player. "It is important to recognise outstanding young talent locally and support them in their goals."
