The Leicestershire Men’s 60+ Veterans Tennis Team have had an outstanding season, winning promotion in the Inter-County Championships, in the process losing only 2 rubbers.
They beat North Wales, Gloucestershire, and Shropshire all 5-0, while beating Lancashire and Northumberland both 4-1.
Early season practice amongst eligible veterans paid dividends and hopefully this has generated a new found enthusiasm in veterans tennis after the veterans 60+ team withdrew from the Inter-County competition 3 seasons ago.
Players who represented the county were: Gordon Reekie (Capt, Oakham), Dave Henderson (Birstal Watermead), Peter Blackwell (Carisbrooke), Chris Barker, Cliff Smith, Murray Walne and Ray Prince (all Leicestershire TC).
