More than 50 young sportsmen and sportswomen from Leicestershire had their outstanding potential recognised this week.
Joanna Horne and James Ison both received Go Gold sports grants from Roger Wilson, chairman of Leicestershire County Council, at a special reception.
He said: "These young people have done remarkably well in their sport and we are all very proud of them.
"I wish them well for the future and hope to see them in the 2012 Olympics."
The Talented Athlete Fund – GO GOLD – is supported by Leicestershire County Council and managed by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport.
Grants are awarded to athletes who are in full-time education and who are competing at a high level within their sport.
