A new sports centre is due to be completed in the autumn.
The Uppingham School Sports Centre, in Leicester Road, will be open to the community and will have a 25m swimming pool, a fitness studio, squash courts, a gymnasium, dance studios and a sports hall, as well as 12 outdoor tennis courts.
The centre will at first be available to schools and clubs using the existing sports centre at Uppingham School.
Bookings will be welcome from new clubs and societies from October onwards, and the centre should be fully open to the public from January.
