“UNDERSTANDING & EXPLORING THE NEW ‘VETTING & BARRING SCHEME’ AND SAFEGUARDING FOR YOUTH VOLUNTEERING”
An opportunity to share, explore and understand safeguarding within Youth Volunteering and the most recent, relevant and important information about the new ‘Vetting & Barring Scheme’ of the ‘Independent Safeguarding Authority’ to recognise who needs to register and what our legal and practical responsibilities will be.
If you work with young people or have responsibility for others who do; are involving young people or adults working with young people; are an active younger volunteer yourself; or want to support or develop youth volunteering, participation, youth-led activities or volunteering opportunities locally, then this meeting is for you.
Come along; meet others with similar interests and involvements; keep up-to-date with latest news and information; share ideas and good practice; promote your activities; and also help to influence and improve youth volunteering locally.
The session will include: Meeting with others to share practice, experiences and understanding regarding Safeguarding in Youth Volunteering; and particularly an informative overview and practical exploration of the most recent, relevant and important information about the new ‘Vetting & Barring Scheme’ of the ‘Independent Safeguarding Authority’ of relevance for anyone working with children/young people or ‘vulnerable adults’.

Start: 10am - on Tuesday 25th May 2010.
Arrival from 9.30am with refreshments available.
Finish by: 1pm – including free buffet lunch.
