The Leicestershire final of the Road to Wimbledon was played on the 3rd July.

The event, now in its 10th Year, gives players of 14 and younger, from each county the opportunity to compete in a National tournament to be held on the grass courts of Wimbledon.

Players can only compete in this event by playing in qualifying tournaments held at their respective tennis clubs. Fifteen club events were held over April and May, and the winners and runners up of each event came to the county final to compete for this ultimate prize. The 28 boys and 10 girls battled it out over 2 days with James Ison (from Ashby Castle Tennis Club) and Abigail Amos (from Market Harborough Tennis Club) winning overall.

Both, James and Abigail are looking forward to playing at Wimbledon on 15th August, where they will compete in singles and doubles events, in what will be a memorable experience.
