On Monday 4th July, the year 3 / 4 Schools Final was held at Knighton tennis centre, Leicester.
Local events had been held over the previous weeks and six areas were represented in the final. The six schools competing for the County Trophy, were Brownlow (Melton Mowbray), Church Langton, Congerstone, Packington, Sir John Fisher (Leicester City) and Thrussington.
Each team, made up of 2 boys and 2 girls, played four singles and two doubles matches and the teams were put into 2 boxes with playoffs.
The tennis was of a good standard and those children that played tennis at their local club certainly helped boost the performance of their team.
Brownlow and Church Langton were clear winners of their boxes and then had to play- off for the trophy. All the matches were very close but Church Langton came out as the overall winners.
John Chapman, Chairman of Tennis Leicestershire Ltd, presented the trophy to a very excited Church Langton team.
