Premier title glory for Leicester Forest men

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Leicester Forest East TC have been crowned men's champions in the Leicestershire Wilson League Premier Division.

They beat eventual runners-up Leicestershire Lawn TC 5-4 in the final match of the season.

Carisbrooke were relegated and Oakham promoted. Rothley retained their status after a play-off match, narrowly defeating Division One champions Oadby.

Hamilton won the women's Premier Division title with Leicestershire Lawn TC in second place.

Leicestershire Lawn TC will, however, have the distinction of having three women's teams in the top division next season because their second and third sides gained promotion.

Other notable results saw David Lloyd Narborough men gaining promotion for the fifth consecutive year.

Leicestershire Constabulary's long run of promotions finally came to an end with relegation from Division Three.

An awards evening will take place in February, when TV commentator and former British No.1 Andrew Castle will be main guest.

Leicestershire & Rutland are in the top five counties in the country for the number of clubs, teams, divisions and players regularly competing in inter-club matches.
