The Leicestershire Men's Team are celebrating after winning promotion from Group 3 at LTA County week. The team were playing at Cambridge and faced a tough group that included Lancashire, Essex, Middlesex, East and West of Scotland.
The team got off to a flying start on the opening day with a comprehensive 9 - 0 win over Middlesex. This was followed up by a solid 6 - 3 won over the East of Scotland on day two, giving the team a good base to make a promotion challenge.
On the Wednesday, the team faced a tough match against Essex. In a hard fought encounter, Leicestershire were narrowly defeated 5 - 4. That left that facing another traditionally strong county in Lancashire and despite a valiant performance the team once again suffered a 5- 4 loss.
That left everything to play for on the final day, where a win against the West of Scotland would secure promotion. The team were up to the challenge and eased to a 7 - 2 victory to secure promotion to group 2 next year.
