College squads in national finals

Thursday, March 08, 2012

Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth College's tennis squads have had a successful season.

The College has fielded five teams – two male, two mixed and one female – in the Aegon senior student’s team competition.

The boys A team, the mixed A squad and the girls line-up all won their respective groups.

That earned them places in the knock-out stages with the girls and mixed teams winning through to reach the national finals.

That means they will join the other last-eight qualifiers at the Bolton Indoor Arena.

The College has a great track record in this competition and this year's finalists will follow in the footsteps of the boys' and mixed teams who competed at the finals last year.

The three day tournament takes place from Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18.

The College will also provide all of the doubles pairings – mixed, male and female – for the tournament at British Colleges Sport national finals at Bath University at the end of March.
