Plaudits for wheelchair tennis coach

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club's Head coach Martyn Whait picked up the Special Disability Award for his long service to Wheelchair Tennis at Tennis Leicestershire’s Annual Awards evening with guest speaker Andrew Castle.

He’s worked as National Coach at the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Paralympics and currently works with a number of highly ranked players who will feature at this year’s Paralympics.

He’s been to a number of countries around the world spreading word about disability sport and tennis in particular and has also worked as a consultant for the South Korean National Team.

He’s also presented at the European Coaches Symposium and the World Coaches Conference.

Despite all of that success as a coach at the top level, you’ll still find Martyn on court on a Saturday morning delivering coaching to beginner juniors of all ages which is why Loughborough LTC feel so honoured to still have him as a coach!
