Oakham Tennis Club hosted a tournament for junior players from six teams at the end of February.
Teams from Stamford, Bourne, Oundle, along with two from Thrapston, joined Oakham for a competition for five to eight-year-olds. Each team had four players who played seeded rivals from the other five teams.
One of the organisers Pete Harding said: “It was many players’ first time in a tournament situation and was a great way to get young players used to playing competitively.
“All the players seemed to have a great time, and the end result was very close, coming down to just one match.”
With a point awarded for each match won, eventual winners with an impressive 14 wins were Thrapston A, just one point ahead of Stamford. Thrapston B were third, edging Oundle and Oakham into joint fourth ahead of Bourne.
Harding added: “The whole event was played in a friendly manner which all the children enjoyed.
