A tennis club held an open day on Sunday 15 April in a bid to attract new members.

Ketton Tennis Club opened its doors in Pit Lane, Ketton, to people interested in the sport.

Club chairman Harry Robinson said it was the first time the club had held an open day.

Mr Robinson said the number of people playing tennis had deteriorated rapidly in the last few years and the club is keen to attract younger players to keep the age profile low.

He said: “We have about 70 members but ideally we would like 10 to 15 more.

“It is not a vast decrease but there are very few people in the 35 to 45 age range.

“We are a friendly club but we do have that competitive side as we play in the Peterborough and Huntingdon League.”

He said the open day was well attended with a number of parents of junior members turning up to have a go. A handful of those who attended also showed up at the social meeting on Monday.
