This weekend the Leicestershire over 35's retained their national champions crown on the international grass courts at Eastbourne.
Playing in the top division for an unprecedented tenth year in succession, they won all their matches. They have now won the event three times in the last four years. What makes the achievement even more outstanding is that most of the team are now nearer to 50 than 35 but are still good enough to beat the younger seniors.
Captain Jon Ison commented "Leicestershire has a proud record across all age groups in veterans tennis, particularly in this flagship event at Eastbourne where we have consistently beaten larger counties with greater numbers to choose from. "We always go with the intention of winning. We have developed a winning habit over the years helped by the fact that we have a settled side and strength throughout the squad. Despite our average age we are still as competitive as ever."
