Day 1
First match on Saturday morning was against a strong Warwickshire team with our girls performing well, and at 2-1 down Anna and Lilia won the doubles to take the match into a shoot-out. Warwickshire then changed their doubles pair and despite our girls best efforts we just missed out, losing to Warwickshire 5-4.
Our second match on Saturday was against Northamptonshire, despite the mornings close match the girls went out fighting and with Sarah coming back from a set down to beat their number 3 we managed to secure all the singles. The doubles was played later in the day by Lilia and Sarah, and concentration was lacking, therefore the team finished with a 6-2 win overall.
Day 2
A weary looking Leicestershire team started Sunday against Nottinghamshire. Conditions were hot but very windy which our girls took longer to adjust to than the opposing team, resulting in the loss of our 3 singles matches. However Lilia and Sarah raised their performance from the evening before and came through to win the doubles, giving the team a loss of 6-2.
Our final match of the weekend was against Lincolnshire, the team was determined to finish on a high and all 3 girls performed well giving us a 6-0 lead after the singles. Anna and Sarah fought hard for the doubles also, but just lost out in a third set tiebreak, leaving the team with a 6-2 win.
Overall the team tried hard, performed well and finished a well-deserved 3rd place.
