The fifth Coaches Conference and Golf Day for Derbyshire and Leicestershire coaches will take place on Tuesday 24th September at Beedles Lake Golf Club, East Goscote, Leicestershire.
The Coaches Conference will take place in the morning from 9.30am – 12.30pm and will include a range of national and local key note speakers on the theme of Supporting Coaches to develop British Tennis. The speakers for this year will be:
- Chris Harwood, BASES High Performance Sport Accredited Psychologist at Loughborough University and LTA Consultant. Chris is a well-known face in tennis in Leicestershire and has received international recognition for his work in sport psychology including research in tennis. I am sure Chris will be an excellent speaker.
- Paul Williams, Schools Tennis Manager at the Tennis Foundation. Paul will provide an update on the Tennis Foundations award winning schools tennis programme and how coaches can make the most of this very important area.
- James Buswell, new Head Coach at Loughborough University from September 2013. James will be taking over the running of the My Tennis programme at Loughborough in a few months and will be sharing the new vision for the centre and how he is planning to work clubs and coaches across the region.
The conference will count for three coach license points. The conference is aimed primarily at coaches, although club volunteers that would like to attend are also very much welcome.
Following lunch at 12.30 pm, we will be organising a fun golf competition for those that would like to play in the afternoon. Further details are included on the attached sheet and we very hope that you will be interested in taking part. Please note that if you do not have time to stay for all 18 holes, the course lends itself to people playing 9 holes so please let us know if you would like to do this and will make every effort to accommodate you.
The event is initially being offered to coaches and club volunteers in Derbyshire and Leicestershire and we are anticipating a high level of demand so please book your place early to avoid disappointment.
If you would like to book a place at the conference then please contact the county office for an application form. Those who have attended the Coaches Conference and Golf Day in recent years will I’m sure testify that it was a very enjoyable and highly informative day, and I very much hope that you will be able to join us for it this year.
