The county's men's and ladies' senior sides embark this week on their annual inter county campaigns.
The men travel to the grass courts of Frinton aiming to bounce straight back to Division 2. The side is boosted by the county flying back American based Connor Glennon and Ben Mullis, but lose Marc Westgate through injury. Leicestershire will be hoping that Andy Murray does not make another surprise appearance for North of Scotland as he did a couple of years back. Others in the group are Essex, Cheshire, North of Scotland, West of Scotland and Cambridgeshire. Captain Tom Kisiel was optimistic: having the American based boys back can inspire us to promotion, and they'll be around again next year to give us a fighting chance of consolidating in Division 2!
Meanwhile a very young county ladies' team go to the historic Fenners courts at Cambridge University. Becky Scrivins captains a side averaging just 21 in age. Competing in Division 4 they are up against Avon, North Wales, South Wales, Somerset and Gloucestershire.
Ladies’ Squad: Rebecca Srivins, Victoria Bullock, Corinne Blythe, Jennifer Gadsby, Bethany Gadsby, Helen Thorpe, Charlotte Griffin, Joanna Fox.
Men’s Squad: Chris Egan Morriss, Connor Glennon, Tom Kisiel, Ben Mullis, Adam Popowicz, Sam Preston, Jack Simpson, Barnaby Thorold.
