Unfortunately, Leicestershire men's team didn't get promoted despite winning their match on four out of five days, which would usually bring assured promotion. Other results conspired to mean Essex and Cambridge finished above us on rubbers won. Notable performances came from Team Captain Tom Kisiel and Connor Glennon, who won 11 out of their 12 rubbers on the first four days, and only losing the twelfth from match point up. Connor ended up winning 14 out of his 15 rubbers for the week, which was a great demonstration of his strengths.
Barney Thorold (16), on his first appearance for the Men’s team, won five out of the eight matches he played.
Tom Kisiel, team Captain said: Whilst the team is disappointed not to be promoted, there is little more we could have done! It has been a great week, having Ben and Connor back from the States, and a special mention must go to Barney Thorold impressing everyone on his County Week debut.
