Confirming their twice won title of British Seniors Club of the Year in 2010 and 2013, the Leicestershire Tennis and Squash Club have an unprecedented seven teams through to the LTA National Club Finals in Dudley this weekend. Teams in the Mens 50’s 55’s 60’s and 65’s plus Mixed Medley, Junior Mixed and Senior Mixed have won a place in their respective age group finals at the David Lloyd venue in Dudley over three days from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd.
Stoneygate resident Richard Tutt, a member at the Club and ranked number 1 in the UK and 8th worldwide over 65, is delighted that his home Club has managed to reach the final in so many age categories: “We thought we had reached a peak in 2012 when 5 of our seniors teams reached National Finals, then last year we had 6 teams through. But for one provincial Club competing against all other Clubs in the UK to have 7 teams in over 40% of the National Finals is an unprecedented achievement. The Club just seems to go from strength to strength in Seniors Tennis.”
Matches will begin at 11am on Friday, and from 9.00am on Saturday and Sunday.
