Loughborough's Barnaby Thorold and Market Harborough's Christina Pozerskis achieved the unique distinction of lifting both the flagship ‘18 & Under’ and ‘16 & Under’ singles titles at The Leicestershire Junior County championships.
A large crowd at The Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club in Stoneygate saw Thorold also add the 18 & Under Boys doubles title to his haul, partnered by Carisbrooke 's Joseph Cook.
In a hard hitting, high quality ‘18 & Under’ final Thorold held off the challenge of his doubles partner to win 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile Pozerskis overcame the current title holder and No1 seed, Jennifer Gadsby of the Leicestershire club 6-1, 6-2.
Tournament director, Geoff Bone, commented 'the future of Leicestershire tennis looks bright with the quality of junior play we have seen this week. Barnaby and Jennifer were both good enough to have represented the full senior county sides at the recent inter county week. Barnaby is going straight on from winning here to a mens' professional futures tournament at the Cumberland club in London. Across the age groups from under 10s to the 18 year olds Leicestershire has a depth of young talent.'
The week- long tournament comprises a series of singles and doubles competitions with entry levels maintained at record numbers competing on the courts of Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club, one of the largest and oldest tennis clubs in Britain.
On hand to present the trophies was Leicestershire county tennis president, Mark Cox, the popular former British No 1 and world no 14.
