Loughborough LTC's Thomas Giles has reached the finals of the National Powder Byrne Tennis Tournament which will take place on Sunday 7th December.
The event, which consists of a number of regional qualifying events leading to the national final, was his first of the winter season. After a successful summer which saw him finish ranked 5th in the Midlands for 9&U players, he travelled to Liverpool for the regional stage in which he beat a number of strong players to take the title, including an epic semi-final against the number 1 seed in which he won the deciding tie-break 13-11.
His victory means he earned a trip to the Olympic Park along with the other regional winners to compete for the overall national title.
One of his coaching team at Inside Out Tennis said "Thomas has really surpassed our expectations over the past 12 months, putting in a lot of hard work and aiming to play a style of tennis that will not only bring him some success right now, but should stand him in good stead for the future as well".
