Great end to the season

Desford Lawn Tennis Club and East Midland Special Olympic tennis player Matthew Chilvers collected silver in singles and bronze medal in doubles at the Tennis Foundation/Special Olympics National Tournament held at Nottingham Tennis Centre, on 30,31st October and 1st November. This ended a very successful tennis season for the Leicestershire and Rutland Go Gold athlete who started the season in January at the Northern Region event collecting silver in singles and gold in doubles. He then followed it up with a gold in singles and bronze in doubles at the southern region before collecting gold in both singes and doubles at the Midlands region event.

“This is a great result to finish off the season . My coach Alec Matty at Desford Lawn Tennis Club has been fantastic and the support of Go Gold has really helped me to progress my tennis  this year.” said Matthew

Matthew is supported by the GO GOLD scheme. The aim of the scheme is to support talented young athletes, including those athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies as being our future Olympic, Paralympic, Special Olympic and Commonwealth athletes and potential medal winners. The award is administered by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS), supported by funding from Leicestershire County Council. Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council.
