Harry with his trophy

Sixteen year old Harry Burley from St.James Tennis Club in Grimsby, represented Great Britain as a valuable member of the boys school tennis team, from Reed's School in Surrey.  Harry has been attending Reed's School for five years.

The prestigous event was the World Schools' Tennis Championships , organised by the International School Sports Federation.  The 2011 Championships were hosted by France, on red clay courts at Le Touquet, from 14-21 May.  Both boys and girls teams from fourteen different nations and four continents were competing for the titles.

In a great all-round team performance GB boys came through the group stage beating Italy and France.  Still maintaining their high standard of play, the GB team beat Turkey in the quarter finals, followed by Australia in the semi finals.  The GB boys team went on to secure a strong 6-0 victory against Chinese Taipei in the final.

The GB girls team were from Ellesmere College in Shropshire, and finished in ninth place.

For Harry to come away as a World Schools' Champion was an incredible honour and a memory that he will always cherish.  This is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment he puts into the game, as too do the other five members of the Reed's School Team.  He can hold his head high with an unbeaten record in both the singles and the doubles at a strong international level.
