Day 1
Lincs v Nottinghamshire.
A convincing win for Lucy Evans at number 1, winning 4-1 4-1 and a huge win for Imogen Wherry beating their number 3 in a tight match, winning 10-8 in the third set. Louise Sharp was our number 2 player coming up against a very strong Nottinghamshire number 2. Going into the doubles, Lincs were 2-1 up needing a good performance from our doubles pairing, which is exactly what they did. Lucy Evans and Alice Gamman played some great doubles, winning 4-2 5-3! Result a 3-1 win v Nottinghamshire.
The girls then had to take on a very strong Northamptonshire team. Lincs girls put up a very good fight in all three singles. Lucy Evans taking a set off a Green 1* and taking her to a third set. End result was Lincolnshire went down to Northamptonshire 4-0.
Day 2
Lincs v Warwickshire
We knew we were up against it today and the girls put up a great fight in all 3 singles. Alice Gamman playing at Number 3 took her opponent to a third set, Lucy Evans playing some great tennis at Number 1 but coming off second best. Louise Sharp was our number 2 again for today and after yesterday's very tough match against Nottinghamshire: she was again thrown into another. After some great rallies lasting up for 40 shots and playing the longest match if the weekend, she unfortunately lost 5-4 5-3 but played some fantastic tennis!! Lincolnshire lost to Warwickshire 4-0 however the score does not reflect how close and how well the Lincs girls played.
Lincs v Leicester
Lucy Evans again playing at number 1 was in another three- setter, this time winning 10-8 in the championship tie-break. Louise Sharp was playing at number 2, another tough match and after her marathon match in the morning, she blitzed her opponent 4-0 4-0!! After the singles, the girls were 2-1 up and again needed another doubles win to glitch the match. Lucy Evans and Alice Gamman continued their doubles performance from the previous day, winning the doubles 4-2 4-1. 3-1 to Lincolnshire!!!!!
Lincolnshire girls were fantastic this weekend and came in 3rd place! Their tennis improved from match to match and the girls did Lincolnshire proud.
