Lincolnshire Tennis Awards was held at The Showroom, Lincoln on Saturday 25 March 2017.
The evening, held in three parts, was led throughout by new Chairman John Copsey, supported by Tony Stamp, Faye Button, Mark Thompson, Jason Revill and Patricia Kenneally-Forrester.
Early in the evening, around fifty winners and families attended the Junior presentation with Lincolnshire’s own Dan Cox and Jade Windley awarding the trophies. The Junior presentation was followed by a finger buffet and free ‘play’ time in The Showroom’s Play Zone before they all went home - probably to watch ‘Red Nose’ TV!
Later on, 125 or so Lincolnshire Tennis Club members and guests enjoyed an exceedingly sociable sit down meal, applauding popular nominees and winners in each category.
The Aegon British Tennis Awards and Lincolnshire Awards were presented by Michael Downey, Chief Executive Officer of the Lawn Tennis Association. It was a great pleasure to welcome Michael back to Lincolnshire. Earlier in the day Michael visited six Lincolnshire clubs and basked in our glorious Lincolnshire sunshine. His sense of humour, agreeable Canadian accent and warmth plus the declaration that he loved Lincoln and Lincolnshire made him an exceptional guest speaker and Award presenter.
More than one hundred and thirty raffle prizes were generously donated by clubs, councillors and related organisations hence the raffle was exceedingly popular.
There might have been a few adult ‘red noses’ after the dinner finished judging by the enthusiasm shown by some attendees! No doubt celebrating the commencement of British Summer Time ……… but a great night was had by all!
