Scores of children and adults turned up on Saturday and Sunday 1st/2nd August to try their hand at tennis. Visitors, holidaymakers and local families all joined in, keen to ‘have a go’.
Enthusiastic teams of children played tennis related games with energy levels at full throttle. Coaching was provided for those with a little experience, while others played competitive doubles games.
On the Sunday morning the Club hosted a children’s tournament sponsored by the Harold Moorhouse Charity and organised by our LTA Coach Becky Palmer. Twenty-six youngsters competed.
An entertaining morning culminated in two exciting finals. The winners of the 9 and under Trophy were Lauren Southerland and Danny Whittred with the runners up Shields going to Frazer McLucas and Marcus Wood. The winners of the 10-14 Trophy were Ella Warnes and Enis Ismail with the runners up Shields going to Noah Fox and William Warnes. Well done to all participants – we look forward to seeing you next year! The morning ended with a well deserved lunchtime barbecue.
Free tennis followed in the afternoon with sessions from LTA coach John Kirby for all the youngsters and a few of the up and coming stars from the morning’s tournament. The club would like to thank all those who supported this wonderful weekend – in particular the Harold Moorhouse Charity, sponsors of the club’s youth coaching and development.
