British Seniors Open Tennis Championships 2016
Dudley - Jan 25-29

Norfolk were well represented at the Senior Open Championships with some notable success throughout the week.

Barry Fulcher was the pick of the bunch, retaining the Mens Over 35 title. He came through four rounds unscathed (including a walkover in the semi-final), beating newcomer to the age group, 35 year old Scot Jordan Gray in the final 6-2 6-4. He remains unbeaten in the UK at this age group since the beginning of 2015. Barry is now turning his attentions towards the World Team Championships in Umag, Croatia at the beginning of May, where he will Captain the GB 35+ team.

Other successes by Norfolk players included Judy Horn (finalist over 55 - beaten by Joy Tacon ex-Norfolk), Jane Ling (semi-finalist over 65), Caroline Blincoe (QF over 60), Andrew Devaney (QF over 50)

Andrew had knocked out the No.2 seed but admitted he struggled to last the pace throughout the week: "By the end my legs had all but given up and I will be seeking a wildcard entry into the over 85 next year where things are a little bit more gentle!"
