Children from Norwich are being encouraged to pick up a racket and play tennis at Eaton Park this weekend as Norwich Parks Tennis celebrates National Mini Tennis Week.
National Mini Tennis Week 2013, sponsored by Highland Spring, aims to give over 10,000 children across the country a fantastic first experience of LTA Mini Tennis and as part of the week Eaton Park are hosting an open day.
LTA Mini Tennis, sponsored by Highland Spring, has been developed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to introduce children between three and ten years old to the sport.
National Mini Tennis Week will see children across the country pick up a racket from Monday June 10 to Sunday June 16 and Norwich Parks Tennis are encouraging families to join them on Saturday June 15 from 1-5pm and get involved by offering children and parents alike the chance to come along and try out tennis for free.
While children can take part in LTA Mini Tennis activity parents are invited to come and have a go on court regardless of ability or previous tennis experience.
Norwich Parks Tennis manager Chris Evans said: “With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport of tennis.
“Tennis is a family sport and mini tennis provides a great way for children to get involved and encourages families to play together in a fun and social environment.
“We are committed to providing the community with easy opportunities to play tennis and hopefully we will see many new faces at the park this weekend.”
There are now more than 1,500 registered tennis venues delivering LTA Mini Tennis across the country, catering for more than 110,000 children.
