Congratulations to 15 year old Amy Partridge from Norfolk who made the long trip up to Scotland to take part in the Jan De Vries Ayrshire Open from 1 to 10 May 2009 and successfully swept aside the opposition to win the 18 & Under girl’s crown.
Amy, who trains at Bannatynes in Norwich, justified her top seeding as she lost just 7 games in the three matches she played en route to the title.
Amy received a bye to the quarter-finals where she made quick work of Sophie O’Neill from the South of Scotland. Her semi-final opponent, Eleanor Good from Scotland East, was dismissed in similar fashion as a ruthless Amy stormed into the final with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
The final was a more even match up and Amy had to raise her level from the earlier rounds to overcome the West of Scotland’s Georgina Sellyn. After taking the first set 6-2, the top seed did just enough to close out the second set 6-4 with a single break of serve.
Amy picks up 250 points towards her National U18 ranking which has climbed to 32, while in her own 16 & Under age group she is 11th in Great Britain.
