The Norfolk pairings of Ian & Thomas & Blackburn and Andrew & Thomas Devaney have won through to the National finals of The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup to be played at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) at Roehampton on the weekend of the 17th & 18th October.
Having qualified locally through the Eaton Park Event back in August, the regional final was held on Sunday in Brentwood, Essex at the Virgin Active Centre wih 8 pairings from counties including Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex & Middlesex.
The Quarter final matches provided tough matches but both progressed through with 8-5 victories. Ian & Thomas then saw off their opponents in their semi-final with an emphatic 8-1 victory, while Andrew & Thomas knocked out the no.1 seeds in their semi-final with a 8-5 win, which saw Thomas D producing some of his best tennis on the day.
The final between the Norfolk pairings was a keenly fought contest with 5 games going to sudden death at 40-40 but Thomas & Ian ran out worthy winners with a 8-2 victory.
Both pairs now move onto the national finals where they will be competing with 16 other pairings from across the country.
