Competitions are a great way to enthuse your pupils about tennis and get them involved! Why not find out how your school can get involved in some local tennis competitions?
Primary School competitions:
This summer, more than 20,000 young people competed in Mini Tennis Schools Competitions across Great Britain.Our priority age group for national coverage is Year 3&4 (ages 7-9yrs), but some areas also provide opportunities for other school years.
All competitions are arranged locally and begin with an event with a cluster of local schools. The winning team(s) then progress on to a Local Authority / Partnership Final, with the winners of these events progressing on to County Finals.
In England, the majority of Mini Tennis Red Schools Competition links with the School Games.

Secondary School Competitions:
Secondary School Competitions are ran either Nationally or Locally.
National Competitions:
AEGON Team Tennis Schools is a programme of three nationally organised competitions, which provides Secondary School and Further Education pupils with the opportunity to play regular competitive tennis and to represent their school. All competitions begin locally and culminate in a national final. Responsibility for organising these competitions lies with the LTA and The Tennis Foundation.
The three competitions are:
- AEGON Team Tennis Schools National Championships
- AEGON Team Tennis Schools Year 8 & 10
- AEGON Team Tennis Schools Senior Students
Local Competitions:
The priority for local schools competition is to increase the amount of local, entry-level competitive tennis opportunities available through schools. There are many different types of inter and intra school competitions that can be run in schools and the School Games Tennis Toolkit has been developed to assist in making this as easy as possible.
Inclusive Tennis Competitions:
The Sainsbury’s School Games Inclusion formats have been created to enable SEN/disabled (SEND) and non-SEND pupils from mainstream schools to compete against each other.
